Emmanuelle

MANUE

Meet Emmanuelle. She’s half French, half Greek, and a great ball of energy. She adds the French touch to Youth Radio. You can hear her from 08:00am to 12:00pm, from Monday to Friday. Mostly you will hear her speak French, her first language. She does the regular things like weather, crispy news about the rich and famous, job opportunities on the French sideand the community billboard during her 4 hour daily show. Her ‘specialty’ is doing backstage interviews with artists and her eyes start to twinkle when she talks about that aspect of her work. Whenever possible, Emmanuelle attends concerts, locally and in the region. She talks to the performers, sometimes even live. “I love to meet great artists.”
Emmanuelle was born in Greece in 1980 and came to St. Martin when she was 14. She went to school here and considers St. Martin her home. She trained for two years at Radio Calypso before joining Youth Radio one year after the radio station kicked off. She now works at Youth Radio since 2005 and she loves it. “It’s more than a job, it’s like family. Sometimes the weekend feels too long and I can’t wait for Monday to come so I can get on the radio.”
Emmanuelle loves sharing music. Her neighbours were probably happy when she went to work for the radio because she was always playing loud music at home, ‘sharing’ her vibes. “Now I can share on the radio. It is awesome.” One other aspect that Emmanuelle loves about her work is getting to meet ‘people from all over.’ Youth Radio, she said, is not comparable to the ‘other’ radio stations, because - like its staff - it''s different. “We are from different places, speak different languages. We are a sample of St. Martin: a lot of different vibes.”
